More WoW Calculations...

This time it's for an SM/Ruin specc'd warlock...and a Mage, and a Healing Priest (only need 10 talents in Holy, so you can keep your shadow build!)

Here goes the list:
(Legs)Fel Infused Leggings (+64 Shadow Damage) [Outdoor Raid Boss: Kazzak]
(Chest)Robe of the Void (+49 Shadow Damage) [Crafted]
(Hands)Ebony Flame Gloves (+43 Shadow Damage) [BWL]
(Offhand)Tome of Shadow Force (+34 Shadow Damage) [AV Faction]
(Dagger)Claw of Chromaggus(+64 Spell Damage)[BWL]
(Waist)Firemaw's Clutch(+35 Shadow Damage)[BWL]
(Ring)Band of Dark Dominion(+33 Shadow Damage)[BWL]
(Head)The Hexxer's Cover(+41 Spell Damage)[ZG]
(Shoulder)Mantle of the Blackwing Cabal(+34 Spell Damage)[BWL]
(Neck)Choker of the Fire Lord(+34 Spell Damage)[MC]
(Ring)Underworld Band(+14 Shadow Damage)[World]
(Wrist)Felheart Bracers(+7 Shadow Damage)[MC]
(Trinket1)Neltharion's Tear(+44 Shadow Damage)[BWL]
(Trinket2)Royal Seal of Eldre'thalas(+23 Spell damage)[DM]
(Boots)Boots of Fright(+34 Spell Damage)[Outdoor Raid Boss: Taerar]

For a total of +553 Shadow Damage (total +shadow and +spell)

Shadow Bolt, as a 3 second cast, recieves slightly more than 80% spell bonus, so 80% of 533 is a +426 Shadow damage SB.
A 60th level SB does 455 to 507.
A Flask of Spell Power adds 150 more damage, 120 to shadow bolt.

This Shadowbolt, then, does 1001-1053 shadow damage. Add in Shadow Mastery, (+5% shadow damage), and our base SB damage is 1051-1106 damage.

Now, say we critically hit, with Ruin.
2102-2212
Now say we've got Curse of Shadows, and they get a +100% vulnerability...
4204-4424
After we already critt'd them, for another +20% vulnerability
5045-5309
With full Shadow Weaving...(+15% damage)
5802-6105
Oh, and how about a +10% Darkmoon Faire Buff?
6382-6716

Lets see these totals:
100% Base Damage
105% Shadow Mastery
210% Crit(Ruin)
420% Shadow Vulner
504% Improved Shadowbolt
579.6% Shadow Weaving
637.56% Darkmoon Faire

Forgot something... TOEP +175 Spellpower for 15 seconds (replaces a +34 spell damage item, so a gain of 141 spell damage, 113 for SB, so add in 720 total damage.)

Max Shadowbolt Crit (with this EQ): 7102-7436 damage. That is a WTFPWNED shadowbolt.

EDIT: add in the stuff noted in comments, +43 more spell damage: +34 to Shadowbolt * 6.3756 = +217 SB Damage= 7219-7653 Damage.

Gimme a sec here, and I'll do up a mage...
[EDIT: ADDED MAGE]
Now, with a 21 Arcane/30 Fire Build...
+10% Fire spell damage, +10% Scorch Damage, +50% crit damage
100% Norm
150% Crit
165% Vuln
181.5% Power
199.65% Faire

Plus PoM, for an instant cast Pyroblast...

Pyroblast (Rank 8) does 716 to 890 damage. It's also a 6 second cast, and thus gains 100% +damage. We're going to ignore the extra damage, since I don't know how +damage interacts with it.

So...
(Legs)Flarecore Leggings (+43 Spell Damage)
(Chest)Jade Inlaid Vestments (+44 Spell Damage)
(Hands)Inferno Gloves(+33 Fire Spell Damage)
(Offhand)Tome of Fiery Arcana(+40 Fire Spell Damage)
(Dagger)Claw of Chromaggus(+64 Spell Damage)
(Waist)Firemaw's Clutch (+35 Spell Damage)
(Ring1)Ring of Spell Power(+33 Spell Damage)
(Ring2)Ring of Spell Power(+33 Spell Damage)
(Head)Eye of Flame(+43 Fire Spell Damage)
(Shoulder)Mantle of the Blackwing Cabal(+34 Spell Damage)
(Neck)Talisman of Ephemeral Power(+175 Spell Damage)
(Wrist)Black Bark Wristbands(+25 Spell Damage)
(Trinket1)Neltharion's Tear (+44 Spell Damage)
(Trinket2)Briarwood Reed(+29 Spell Damage)
(Feet)Boots of Fright(+34 Spell Damage)
(Elixir)Elixir of Spell Power(+150 Spell Damage)

So, +811 Fire Damage... Base Pyro Damage is suddenly
1527 to 1701

*199.65% damage
3049-3396 damage, on the instant-cast sly. Alternatively, there's always combustion, and a sheep+cobustion+Pyro for a gauranteed crit.
Now, imagine you've got a warlock with you... and a lucky vulnerability means:
6098-6792
Why Fire mages need Ruin:
8131-9056 Damage is the one One-Shot to Rule them all.

Still, even 6098 Fire damage is a very large amount. Even the Solo Sheep+Comb+Pyro for 3049 MINIMUM is scary (I quaketh in my booties). So Xaun, MC/BWL for +Fire gear? I figure you like the idea of one-shotting those pesky rouges and hunters...
<3 Twinking <3

EDIT[3.1415]
Final Comparison:
Off a Base Damage of Shadowbolt:
100%-Shadowbolt
637.56%-Ubershadowbolt (with CoS)
176%-Pyroblast (76% more damage than Shadowbolt)
703%-Uberpyroblast (with CoE)
Though, 76% of the mage damage doesn't benefit from +damage, so... this isn't any good.

Well, this is all theoretical maximums, let us think about plausibility:
Mage: Needs a Curse, a Crit, a Vulnerability, a 2 hour buff, and 5 scorches.
Warlock: Needs a Curse, a Crit, a Vulnerability, a 2 hour buff, 5 Shadow Spells from a shadow Priest, and another Crit.

So, the Mage needs a warlock, but the warlock needs a Priest, and a double crit.

So, the mage can do less damage, more easily. I consider this to be a fair trade.

This bodes very well for our Priest+lock+lock+mage grouping. Plus, 2 Firemages = 2x Scorching for 20% extra Fire damage? or 2 Priests = 2xShadowWeave for 30% shadow damage (plus more VE healy goodness).

Either way, this does explain the near-instantdeadification in Scholo/Strat. It no longer suprises me that they die in ~6 seconds.

With a max damage of 637.6% normal damage, a warlock could get nasty. Too bad this'll be gone next patch.

Healing on a Priest:
(head)Crystal Adorned Crown (+92 healing)
(neck) Jin'do's Evil Eye (+44 Healing)
(back) Hide of the Wild (+42 Healing)
(chest) Truefaith Vestments(+73 Healing)
(wrist) Bindings of Transcendence (+33 Healing)
(hands) Desert Bloom Gloves (+51 Healing)
(waist) Firemaw's Clutch (+35 Healing)
(legs) Empowered Leggings (+77 Healing)
(feet)Boots of Pure Thought (+62 Healing)
(ring1) Pure Elementium Band (+53 Healing)
(ring2) Cauterizing Band (+46 Healing)
(trinket1)Rejuvenating Gem (+66 Healing)
(trinket2) Neltharion's Tear (+44 Healing)
(mainhand) Lok'amir il Romathis (+84 Healing)
(offhand) Lei of the Lifegiver (+53 Healing)
(wand) Touch of Chaos (+18 Healing)

Total: +873 Healing.

Renew (Rank 9)
Instant cast (HoT)
Heals 810 over 15 seconds. I think it's every 3 seconds, so 5 ticks, or 162 per tick.
Each tick recieves 20% of +healing.
x1.1 Spiritual Healing
x1.15 Improved Renew
so... 162 + 175 per tick. That's 337*1.15*1.1 = 388 health per tick. Nifty.

Prayer of Healing (Rank 4)
3 second cast (~80%)
939 to 991 Base healing.
+699 Healing.
x1.1 Spiritual Healing
so... 1638 to 1690 * 1.1 = 1802 to 1859.
Critical Heal: 2703-2789

Greater Heal (Rank 4)
4 second cast (100%)
2396-2674 base healing.
+873 healing
x1.1 Spiritual Healing
Results in a total heal of 3596 to 3902.
Critical Heal: 5394-5853 (overheal FTW)

Flash Heal (Rank 7)
1.5 second cast (~40%)
heals 812-958
+349 healing
x1.1 Spiritual Healing
1277-1438 Healing
Critical Heal: 1915-2157

Priests aren't nearly as fun. pooh.

Hmm. Did you take into account the mage talents?
If you're going 31 fire, you're at least required to have 5 in FirePower (+10% to all fire spells) 5 polints in Improved Scorch guarantee that Scorch makes things take +2% damage from fire spells -- it stacks up to 5 times.
And Ignite buffs all crits with 40% of the damage dealt by a crit over the next 4 seconds... but if we're ignoring the DoT part...
:D Have at.

(In case the answer wasn't obvious, OMGYES, let's start farming MC/BWL!)

I. Can't. Type.

5 points in Improved Scorch guarantee that Scorch makes things take +2% damage from fire spells -- it stacks up to 5 times.
You're not required to have this thing with only 31 in fire, but if we're going for max spell damage instead of max crit, it's a good direction to look.

... odd...

Any reason you chose [(Trinket2)Royal Seal of Eldre'thalas(+23 Spell damage)] over [(Trinket2)Briarwood Reed(+29 Spell Damage)] for your 'lock build?

Re: ... odd...

Simply because I didn't see it when searching for stuff.

Also note Ring of Spell Power(+33) vs Underworld Band(+14)

And Black Bark Wristbands(+25) vs Felheart Bracers(+7)

Re: ... odd...

(Neck)Talisman of Ephemeral Power(+175 Spell Damage) v. (Neck)Choker of the Fire Lord(+34 Spell Damage)[MC]
(Unless the one is Mage-Only)

Re: ... odd...

Impressive :D
So that's just hours & days & months of grinding everything known to man.
It's cakewalk!

To quote myself...

Now, with a 21 Arcane/30 Fire Build...
+10% Fire spell damage, +10% Scorch Damage, +50% crit damage
100% Norm
150% Crit
165% Vuln
181.5% Power
199.65% Faire

So yes, I was accounting that.

No, I didn't worry about Ignore. I don't know when that ignite damage is calculated.

for the 6k-7k crit, does ignite do 40% base spell damage (600-700) or total spell damage(2400-2800). The DOT effect of Pyro, is that staying 300ish, ro does it jump to 2k? I'd like to see, so we'll have to test this (and VE) sometime.
Man, imagine hitting for 7k, then tossing on two DOTs, at 2k over 4 sec each. That's only a 7k burst with 1000dps for 4seconds. add in a fireball over those 4 seconds, and you've just leveled ANYONE in PvP.

Noting all of that would have taken considerably more time than I had left at lunchtime. :P That's just the one that hit me upside the head.
I think I will have to go play around with my mage a bit, to answer those questions about Pyroblast, if nothing else. The VE stuff we should totally test when we cloth DM West, right? :D

Priests aren't nearly as fun. pooh.

... Have you tried Shadow Priest?

[info]lord_evil

November 15 2005, 00:00:09 UTC 6 years ago

Mind Blast is a 1.5 sec cast, so it drops to ~40% damage bonus from +damage.
and Mind Flay can't crit, and only gets ~40% damage bonus from +damage.

Although, they do get +15%, +15%, +10% shadow damage, +50% Crit on mindflay and +100% from CoS... 436% damage in total, even with all the warlock's +shadow damage(709 after revisions), they're only looking at +286 damage.

That's a mindflay at 345 per tick, with vulnerability making the ticks vary from 345-690.

Mindblast, which goes 503-531, jumps to 789-817 with the +damage, with total damage at 3440-3562. Just not any fun compared to warlock/mage. See, warlocks have Ruin (33% more damage) on a 3 second cast(40% more damage from items), while mages have pyro's base damage(70% more).

Still, Mind flay is kinda nifty at 345 damage per second.
